About me
Dr Gerald Onsando is a Queensland-based evaluation specialist and Principal Consultant at Ubuntu Impact Consulting, a practice grounded in the African relational philosophy of Ubuntu; “I am because we are”. Dr Onsando brings extensive experience across government, community, and research sectors, with a focus on culturally responsive evaluation, evidence-informed decision-making, and organisational learning. Dr Onsando’s work integrates African traditional and cultural ways of knowing with contemporary evaluation theory and practice, offering a relational, strengths-based approach that centres community voice, cultural context, and ethical practice. Through Ubuntu Impact Consulting, Dr Onsando supports organisations to design, implement, and evaluate programs that generate meaningful and sustainable social impact. At aes26, Dr Onsando will present a short paper, Ubuntu in Evaluation Practice: Bridging Traditional African Ways of Knowing with Contemporary Program Evaluation, contributing to the conference theme Traditions and New Ways.
